Cheney’s New Group Speaks On Obama’s Foreign Policy

Liz Cheney, the daughter of former US Vice President, Dick Cheney, has set up a new group aimed to provide a more organised and effective response to US President Barack Obama’s strategies for America’s security and foreign policy.

Cheney, along with two other founding members of the group called “Keep America Safe”, expressed their concern on the decisions made by the Obama administration involving the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, CIA interrogation methods, defense spending and the closing of the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay. The website of the group states, “These policies, along with President Obama’s abandonment of America’s allies and attempts to appease our adversaries are weakening the nation.”

A Democratic National Committee spokesman Hari Sevugan said that the group’s approach to foreign policy is a “failure”.

“Last fall, the American people overwhelmingly rejected a radical foreign policy authored by Dick Cheney that alienated our allies, emboldened our enemies, depleted our resources, distracted our focus and made the nation less secure,” he said. “The Cheneys can continue to focus on securing their sullied legacy if they want to. But, the president will continue to focus on securing the country.”

The group launched a one-minute and 30 seconds video on Tuesday showing a direct attack on Obama’s failure to respond properly to foreign policy issues.

Cheney has been known to disprove of Obama’s actions and was once quoted saying that the President has “sid[ed] with the terrorists. Her father, former Vice President Cheney, also criticised Obama for his decision against the CIA’s practise of aggressive interrogation, leaving the country in a perilous situation for terrorism.
